Joint tenancy or single

I am about to let out my house for the first time. I have bought a tenancy pack and was about to issue my 3 tenants with a joint assured shorthold tenancy agreement. One person says they want a single agreement as they have ended up paying out for other people's council tax in the past and another says that if she has a single agreement then she will get more housing benefit. What is the deal here? Does it make any difference to me? It is a 3 bedroom house with one sitting room, one bathroom and kitchen.
