Refund of Deposit

Our tenant is vacating the property on the exact date of the end of the tenancy and she is demanding that I refund her deposit on that day. She is quoting the terms of the lease that say the deposit will be refunded at the end of the tenancy minus any deductions. Does that have to mean on the day?? I know that she has already removed doors and made other alterations and I have agreed that I will check the property in the couple of days after she has vacated and forward the refund of deposit minus any deductions (if any - I have never made any before). I would appreciate any help on this - thanks
