I have recently inherited a property which, as far as I am aware, has never had a gas or electricity check in the 26 year tenancy! Can anyone tell me how to go about organising this - is it expensive? Is it simply a matter of getting a qualified electrician and gas engineer to come and inspect, and if ok to issue a cert? If it is not OK, what happens then - I am very worried about the cost of having to do a complete re wiring job as the rent is very low and I do not have access to the type of money a rewire job might require. Help! The problem may be irrelevant if I am able to gain possession as per my previous posts, but in the meantime I would like to ensure everyone's safety...
